Earlier this year, Detecon Consulting interviewed Achim Hebestreit, the global lead for the solution portfolio for digital services in the Telecommunications Industry Business Unit of SAP. The focus on the conversation was the changes in consumer behavior and businesses from digital transformation – and how telcos can take advantage of these changes. Here are a few highlights from the interview.
Almost any company, in any industry – even those not particularly tied to IT – will most likely be affected by the digital transformation. This is a good thing for telecommunications companies, says Achim Hebestreit, the global lead for the solution portfolio for digital services in the Telecommunications Industry Business Unit of SAP.
In a Detecon Consulting interview, Hebestreit shared how companies who are not experts in IT will be looking to telecommunications organizations to help them find their way into the Internet of Things (IoT) world. “…Telecommunications companies can now develop completely new fields and become partners for these types of companies in digital transformation – acting as the engine driving the transformation, so to speak,” says Hebestreit. He adds that companies that employ in-memory technology to make Big Data usable in real time for critical decisions will gain a significant competitive advantage.
Hebestreit also discusses how doors are being open to software applications that could simply not have been imagined in the past. In addition, he talks about other innovations the telecommunications industry can take advantage of in the foreseeable future and the many ways that SAP is helping to support them during the digital transformation.
